Well the games are over and what a great two weeks of sporting performances and achievements by Olympians from around the world…and none more so than Team GB… and the great British public.
Their legacy is to Inspire A Nation and I really hope that the two week phenomenon of inspirational performances that have lifted the people of this county like I’ve never experienced before and united it really does carry on.
Such as:-
- Inspire us not to take the crap we take from under performing, under achieving politicians across the whole political spectrum
- Not to put up with the dumbing down of our society by the trashy ‘instant celebrity rubbish’ we have to put up with from a media that has no substance to it
- Not to put up with the gloated under achieving egotistical footballers and the media circus that has enabled them to be rewarded massively from under achieving greatly and being nothing more than mediocre
- Inspire us to demand a better society where fairplay and justice are not looked at as an ‘ideological dream’ and ‘pie in the sky’ – but are made the cornerstone and foundations of it and those that treat those requirements with contempt are held responsible.
- Inspire us to uphold and defend the rights and laws of this land and have respect for our multi cultural society and demand that others do the same otherwise – like cheats and those that flout the rules and requirements of the ‘Olympic spirit’ – they are kicked out and held accountable for their actions.
Surely after the performances we have seen from the athletes gathered for these games and the spirit of the volunteers and crowds at the games and the massively positive effect that has lifted us all up, we cannot allow it to fade away as if it was a dream and the dross we have put up with before allowed to seep back into the fabric of our society. This ‘dream’ happened for real for two ‘happy and glorious’ weeks… and for once in my lifetime this country felt united like I’ve never experienced it and it felt GREAT Britain for once.
I’d like it to remain and grow…is that really too much to expect?
